My clients are part of the “personal development movement” (even if they don’t know there is such a thing). It's called growth consciousness -- the spirit of continuous learning and curiosity. They are interested in possibility and their living true to their own potential and making a difference. They are honest and care about integrity. They strive for some level of self-awareness, emotional intelligence and mental fitness. They believe that genuine positivity begets more positivity. They may be a visionary leader whose company is rooted in these values and want to walk the talk. They have a lot of responsibilities and people who depend on them for livelihoods and more. And they have their own lives with all the complexities of human existence.
Leaders and others come to me so they can show up holistically: honoring all aspects of themselves to better serve all the people in their lives.
Whether you are officially in a leadership role, an coming leader at work, you are providing professional services or are approaching your personal life with a sense of leadership, you have taken a step back to reflect on how your life is working for you. You've taken some steps to practice self-awareness or make changes, yet it hasn't been enough. Maybe you feel out of balance as the Whole You. Or stuck in patterns, unfulfilling day-to-day routines, stuck trying to inspire and motivate your team, or stuck in an area of your life that seeps negatively to other areas. Either on a personal basis or through your employer, we engage and I connect with the creative human being you are. Given the space and attention, your wisdom rises to the surface and you see the path to your desired outcome.
Investors and boards at tech companies understand the value of coaching and the important role it plays in creating a genuine people-centric culture. Leadership and wellbeing start at the top. From there flow healthy mindsets, relationships and values. Vision and mission are at the heart of these companies with a culture that fosters creative open-mindedness. Leaders and (often green) managers benefit from coaching and leadership training. Employees are smart, driven, hungry to learn and grow -- and they know their value in today's market.
Businesses that want to retain people in this time of global change must be intentional about their culture and demonstrating how they care for their people. A perk like professional coaching demonstrates leadership commitment to supporting personal growth, while at the same time acknowledging personal life's challenges and possibilities. Creating a culture where people feel cared for, heard, appreciated – and safe to speak up and be vulnerable – is essential for the success of all involved. Offering coaching to leadership teams to embrace the cultural values and to optimize what people bring to the table, and offering coaching to employees as a perk to optimize who they are in all contexts, demonstrates intentionally walking the talk of caring.
